Kara Pendery, reported for the tough end of the great season of the Girls Soccer team.
On Tuesday October 28th, the Wyoming Women's soccer team played in the Regional Semi-Final OHSAA tournament game. Unfortunately, we came away from the game with a loss, ending the 2014 season for the Cowboys. We took on a very strong McNick team, whose record was 17 - 1. No excuses here....McNick outplayed Wyoming. It was a tough loss with a half-time score of Wyoming 0 - McNick 5. We held them to 2 goals in the second half with a final score of Wyoming 0 - McNick 7.
The Cowboys played tough and showed great resiliency throughout the game. It is my hope that this team focuses on the entire season and the accomplishments they made TOGETHER, as a team, rather than just the result of this one game. The Cowboys finished their season 9 - 5 - 2. We wish the underclassman luck for next year with the hopes that they will continue with a rewarding finish in next year's tournament. We say goodbye to the seniors as they move closer to graduation! Thank you to Angie Edmonds and Lauren Gruber for all of their work and time, focusing on this team.
I would personally like to send a great big shout out to Rod Apfelbeck, Debi Varland, and Jason Miller for all of their time dedicated to our athletes! Rod spends countless hours taking, reviewing and editing photos. It is a time-consuming job that he does well! Debi Varland has also dedicated time to helping capture our tournament games. I always tell Rod and Debi how much I appreciate them when I see them at the field. It would be great if you would too!!! Jason Miller is the one responsible for getting the great photos and news out to our readers....even when the reporter misses press-time. Thank you Jason for all that you do for our athletes!!
Thank you to every fan that came out and supported the girls throughout the season. I know my friend, the blogger, will be looking for someone to share all the good news of next year's Women's soccer team. If you are interested in providing game reports and/or photos for the Wyoming Roundup, please reach out to Jason at wyoroundup@gmail.com. He would love to talk with you!!
And while we're passing around the Thank You's and pats on the back, let's not overlook our remarkable reporter, our scribe spectacular, Kara Pendery for keeping us in the know with the team.
