Cowboys and Barons

Kara Pendery reported for the Girls Varsity Soccer team.
The women's soccer team took on the Amelia Barons for their last regular season game on Saturday 10/11/14.  It was a tough but competitive game.  We found a pattern early on, with Amelia's defense....  On more than one occasion, Amelia's defense found a way to 'stop, drop and roll' right in front of our players as they approached Amelia's goal.  No cards were thrown in any of those instances, even though we strongly encouraged it from the Wyoming bench and bleachers. We went into the half tied 0 - 0.
The Cowboys were the first to score.   Emily Rush was headed down the middle of the field, just outside of Amelia's box when she popped the ball up and over to Kayla. It was a beautiful pass!  Kayla dribbled past a couple of Amelia's defenders and put one up in the left corner of the goal.  Wyoming was up 1 - 0.  Amelia returned with a goal of their own, late in the game.  We ended the game with a 1 -1 tie.  The Cowboys played tough against the Barons.  I will leave you with this fun fact:  The women's soccer team went undefeated in their coin toss record.  :)  Yep, they won every coin toss....or so I have been told.
The Cowboys finish their regular season with a CHL record of 5-1-1 (8-4-3 overall).  Madeira and Indian Hill tied for Co-League Champs.
The Cowboys were granted a bye for the first week of the post-season.  They take on the Northwest Knights on Saturday 10/18/14 at 3pm, Wyoming HS.  If they win on Saturday, they will play either Ross or Clinton Massie at 7pm on Tuesday October 21st, Seven Hills High School. Come out and support your soccer players throughout the tournament.  Thanks to all that support Wyoming Soccer!!
