District Domination

Kara Pendery and her team reported from the Saturday, October 25th, the Girls Soccer team District win.

Wyoming faced Indian Hill in the district finals on Saturday 10/25.  Wyoming fans came out in great numbers to cheer on our Cowboys. It was so great to see so many Wyoming fans at the game.  In the excitement of the game, I forgot to take notes so I reached out to secret reporters to fill in some of the details.

I know I am not supposed to blame the referee or point fingers.....but let me just say, we managed to win the game in spite of the refs that night.  Well, that may be an overstatement, but I have never been to a game with so many questionable calls/non-calls. The game was intense from start to finish.  In the first half we spent a great deal of time in a defensive position as Indian Hill was continually challenging our defenders with excellent ball control.  Indian Hill scored first.  We went into the half down 1 - 0.

The Cowboys came out stronger in the second half.  I don't even know how to describe Kayla's goal in regulation.  You had to be there! She took it down the left side of the field and managed to dribble through and around at least 4 defenders to knock in an amazing shot. Wyoming tied it up with 19 minutes remaining in regulation.

Olivia Munneke had numerous saves.  The most memorable save of the night, by our goalie, was an Indian Hill shot that Olivia tipped over the crossbar.  Meredith Glover had a noteworthy save, as well. Olivia had come out of the goal to make a stop.  Indian Hill regained possession and took another shot on goal.  Meredith positioned herself in the box to stop the shot and clear the ball.  Roslyn  Rathbone also gets credit for an amazing stop.  Indian Hill had a corner kick seconds before the end of regulation.  Roz kicked the ball off of the goal line to help send the game into overtime.

We went into two 15 minute overtime periods.  Jasmine Evans had a beautiful shot in OT that bounced off the post.  We ended up tied at the end of OT.  After much hugging, encouragement and all around team-love, we had our 5 kickers for the PKs: Kayla, Jasmine, Casey, Jules and Meredith all took turns taking a PK.  Meredith had the distinct pleasure of scoring the final goal of the night!  Wyoming 2,  Indian Hill 1

Next stop is Regional Semi-Finals, Tuesday 10/28th at 7pm vs. McNick.  The game will be played at Shea Stadium, in Norwood:

Shea Stadium (located down the street from Norwood HS): 2603 Harris Avenue, Norwood, Ohio 45212
