Baseball wins District Championship

The baseball team defeated Alter yesterday afternoon 9-7 at Mason to win the District Championship.

Enquirer District wrap-up here.
Wyoming 9, Alter 7, Division II district final: The Cowboys scored all nine runs with two outs as they advanced to the regional tournament.

After falling behind 3-0 in the top of the second, Wyoming plated three runs in the bottom half of the inning to tie the score. They once again matched Alter’s two runs in the fourth with two of their own to tie things at 5-5.

After an Alter run in the top of the fifth, Wyoming had a two-out rally aided by an error. It all started with sophomore left fielder Casey Howell’s two-RBI single, and Wyoming added to that with two unearned runs to stretch the lead to 9-6.
Max Kadish started the game and pitched 4 1/3.  Henry Moore relieved him and got the win.  Michael Kelly came in during the sixth and closed out the game.

Henry also did work at the plate, going 2-3. His battery-mate, Daniel Gilbert, was also 2-3.  Casey Howell had two runs batted in.

Next up: Thursday at 2 PM at the University of Dayton (131 Arena Park Drive, Dayton 45408) vs. Tipp City Tippecanoe, which defeated Monroe 6-5 yesterday.  Full sectional and district bracket here.  State sweet sixteen bracket here.
