The Loss of a Local Legend

It's with great sadness that the Round Up reports that Gene Pitman passed away on Friday, February 27th.
From the Pitman family,
We thank everyone who has offered thoughts, prayers, and memories of a man who, in our opinion and the opinion of many, was a legend among men. He never met a stranger and was modest in all that he did. While he was a very unassuming man, he was a giant. He was a coach, mentor, and friend to many who played youth sports in the City of Wyoming. Our family is not limited by children, nieces and nephews, and cousins.  It includes the thousands of people who were influenced by Gene Pitman.

Ready for Prime Time

From 8th Grade Girls Basketball team coach, Coach Whipp:

The final record was 11-3 in the CHL.  The girls really had a great year and improved in many ways.  In their record alone they improved, but I think I saw a much more confident team by the end of the season.  This group is ready to compete at the high school level, and it will be fun to watch them develop over the next four years under Coach Lackey.
Thanks to Kathy Lyons for sending in the report and pictures.

#1 Squared

Kara Pendery, the Round Up Editor Heir Apparent, gets us ready for the MS Boys Basketball post-season with this report.

It's time for the CHL tournament for the Middle School basketball teams.  The 7th and 8th grade boys teams are both seeded #1!  Congrats to all the players and coaches.  It has been such a great season.

Barring any changes due to weather, this is where you'll find the boys.  Come out and watch some great middle school basketball!

The 7th grade tournament is being hosted at Finneytown's Secondary Campus. Wyoming (1) v Mariemont (4) on Wednesday 2/18 at 4:30pm.

Don't let the 7th grade basketball team pull their hair out waiting to see if you'll show up for their game.
The 8th grade tournament is being hosted at Wyoming Middle School. Wyoming (1) v Mariemont (4) on Wednesday 2/18 at 4:30pm.
We need more of this ....
To come see more of this .....
The boys will play 2 games, regardless of the first round results.  We hope to see both Wyoming teams playing in the Championship game, which should be at 5:30 on Thursday.  However, don't take my word for it ... get confirmation before heading out to the game from your favorite basketball player.  For the games played at Wyoming MS, we will be honoring our booster passes.  If you are not an owner of one of these gems, the cost to see the game will be $4 for adults and $3 for students.

While you wait for the CHL tournament, you can catch up on some 8th grade action here:

So What Are You Going To Do About It?

I'm not trying to stir up dissension in the neighborhood, but I overheard something I thought you should know about.  At the last basketball game, I was in the stands behind that couple that lives down the street from you.  Your ears must have been burning.  They were talking some serious trash about your golf skills.  They were saying how the only reason you haven't put together your foursome for the event was because you were scared of losing to them.  We all know that isn't true and normally I wouldn't even say anything, but that couple wasn't even cheering for our Cowboys at the game.  Are you going to stand for that?  Aren't you going to do something about it?

Be a part of the 1st Annual Wyoming Cowboy Classic Golf Outing at Wetherington Golf and Country Club on April 20th, 2015.  Sign up yourself or get your foursome together, or just come to the Awards Banquet and pretend you played.  There are also opportunities to sponsor the event.
