Holding Down the Hill

Bryn Lewis reported from the Friday, February 6th, Boys Basketball game against Indian Hill.

To start the first quarter, Lonnie Grayson got a three, Walker Lewis had a huge block against the glass and Garyn Prater got a two and an And 1. Just under four minutes to go and the score was tied at 6. At 3:10 mark, Garyn was fouled and made both, 8-6. Just under three minutes, Garyn grabbed a D rebound and Lonnie got a 2 and an And1, 11-6. At 1:30 left, Hudson Rogers to an open Jake Edmonds for 3, 14-6. Walker and Mason Rogers gave the Braves fits with a number of steals and, with 40 seconds to go, Mason laid it up, 16-6.

2nd qtr., Cowboy defense continued to frustrate the Braves when Walker nabbed a steal and took the lay-up, 18-6. Less than two minutes in and Jake got a D rebound. Just under five to go and Mason grabbed a D rebound. Soon after, Walker got a putback, 20-10. At the 4:26 mark, Jake took a charge and ten seconds later drove into traffic for 2, 22-10.  The Braves tried to cut the lead but, at the 3:20 mark, Garyn to Walker for 2, 24-15.  At 2:04 left in the half, Hudson grabbed a rebound in traffic and got the putback, 26-18. Thirty seconds later and the Braves had 7 fouls.  Lonnie was fouled, twice. At the half, 29-23.

The 3rd started quick with a Mason to Walker 2, 31-23. Just under seven minutes in, Walker from the corner to an inside Hudson for 2, 33-25.  Twenty seconds later, Walker to Lonnie for 3, 36-25. Hudson grabbed another D rebound and soon after Walker drove into the paint for 38-25.  At the 5:15 mark, Lonnie got a floater and on the next possession netted a three, 43-28. At the 4:00 mark, Jake was fouled driving in the paint and made both, 45-28. The Cowboy Crazies smelled blood and got louder and louder. Hudson continued to grab more D rebounds. At the 3:10 mark, Jake executed a beautiful 360 in the paint and dished to Hudson, 47-28. Walker and Mason both scored soon enough, 51-28.  Garyn drove from the corner to a lay-up, 53-31, and then took a charge on the other end. 3rd ended, 54-33.

4th qtr., this game got away from the Braves and the game final 72-47.

Notes: Jake had at least 7 assists, Lonnie probably was close.  Cowboys out-rebounded the Braves 37-17. Hudson is a rebound beast followed, this game, by Mason then Walker.

Editorial Note: This is my son's final year playing high school ball and, as we get closer to the end, I want to watch the games without trying to take notes at the same time.  It's a special season and my son's last Cowboy year so I'd like to just enjoy it. Going forward, I won't be giving minute by minute reports.  Hopefully, someone else will take the opportunity. If not, I'll try to get at least some stats the Enquirer won't already report.
Thanks to Bryn Lewis for the report, and
