Wyoming Wears Out The Wildcats

Bryn Lewis reported from the Boys Basketball win at Finneytown, Friday, January 30th.

I got to the game late after Walker Lewis had scored two 2s and Lonnie Grayson scored two and Mason Rogers scored two and an And 1.  The score was 7-9 Wyoming. With over two and a half minutes to go in the quarter, Walker had a D rebound.  On the next trip down the court, Lonnie had a D rebound  and soon after Garyn Prater shot a three from the left side, 7-12.  With a minute to go, Garyn shot another net three from near the same spot and the quarter ended 7-15 Wyoming up.

Second quarter started quick when just seconds in Hudson dished to Lonnie for two, 7-17. Hudson had an effort defensive tip to Lonnie. At the 6:50 mark, Nate Lowe had a nice three to put the Cowboys up 9-20.  On the next possession Garyn was fouled shooting, 9-21 but after that the Cowboys didn't take care of the ball and with three minutes to go in the half the score was tied at 21.  The half ended with Wyoming down 23-21. Despite Wyoming owning rebounds 17 to 8, The also gave up the ball in turnovers 10 to 3. Walker and Lonnie combined for 11 rebounds.

The 3rd.  Mason was back in the game after some foul trouble in the first half.  Lonnie had a steal just seconds into the quarter.  Walker was fouled shooting soon after, 23-22.  At the 6:11 mark, Walker found Hudson underneath for two, 25-24.  Mason grabbed a needed D rebound and seconds later Jake dropped a three to take the lead, 25-27. The Cowboys lost the lead but Hudson had a putback to keep it close, 31-29.  At the 3:05 mark, Mason to Jake for a three and regained the lead, 31-32.  Jake had a hustle play for a jump ball and the possession, Lonnie had a block and Walker took a charge. With 24 seconds in the qtr., Jake had a layup and a final qtr. score of 31-34 Wyoming.

The 4th:  Walker blocked a shot at the 7:30 mark. Soon after, Lonnie netted a three, 31-37. Lonnie grabbed a D rebound and on the possession Jake dropped another three, 31-40.  At the 4:30 mark, Walker dished to Mason for two, 35-42.  Soon after Hudson found Mason running in the lane for a layup, 35-44. Just under four minutes left and Mason grabbed a D rebound and Walker had a layup, 35-46.  Wyoming's defense was taking care of business. At the 3:20 mark, Walker had another layup, 35-48. With just over two minutes to go, the Wildcats began fouling.  Garyn was first up and Finneytown was in the bonus, 37-50. Under two minutes to go and Garyn was fouled again, then Walker, then Jake.
Final: 37-54.

In the 2nd half, Wyoming had only had 3 turnovers to Finneytown's 7. I don't know all the totals but Wyoming had four players in double digits and Walker had a double-double.  Also, from starters to the bench, this team's defensive awareness and hustle is a sight to see.
Thanks to Bryn Lewis for the report, and
