Another typically close game between Wyoming and Taylor, particularly at the end.
But ever hustling Mason Rogers, having his finest game this year, had a couple of key steals in
quarter #4 that counted heavily in this three point Wyoming win.
Down the stretch, it went like this:
:44 left Wyoming up 51-49. Wyoming turns the ball over on an errant pass.
:36 left Same score. Taylor calls time out but loses the inbound pass to Mason.
:32 left Wyoming up 52-49 Mason makes 1 of 2 at the free throw line.
:23 left Wyoming up 52-51 Taylor makes 2 free throws.
:14 left Wyoming up 54-51 On a beautiful feed from Jake Edmonds to Walker Lewis.
:06 left Same score Taylor misses a long 3 pointer but gets the rebound.
:02 left Same score Taylor badly misses from the side as Wyoming’s defense prevents them from getting a decent shot.
It was another team win as coach Tim Edmonds gave 7 players about the same playing time.
No one in serious foul trouble, so he could substitute freely and did so the entire second half.
The game was tied at half, 22-22. Wyoming was ahead 38-36 entering the final quarter. Always
less than a 4 point spread the final half and an exciting game for both spectators and players.
Rebounds were about even with Wyoming garnering 24 to Taylor’s 22. Lewis got a third of
them, followed by Lonnie Grayson and Hudson Rogers (4 each).
But turnovers proved to be a decisive factor in the end. Taylor had 17. Wyoming only 7.
Point wise, it was Grayson with 19 and an extremely important 3 pointer late in the 4th quarter,
and Mason Rogers with 15, his high for the season. Mason’s successful drives to the basket
under great pressure were key near the end. Garyn Prater, who is getting more playing time
each contest, added 10, also his high this year. He also had a key 3 pointer in the final quarter.
For Taylor, 5’9” shifty guard Zack Fulton led the way with 18. Another senior, Nick Koehne was
close behind with 14. Look for another close one when Taylor visits here February 3rd.
Thanks to Bill Ries for the report.
Both Wyoming and Indian Hill are both undefeated in the CHL. The same can't be said after Friday, January 9th when the two meet at Indian Hill at 7:30. Let's turn loose the Crazies and fill the stands.
