Alone on Top

Bryn Lewis reported for the Boys Basketball team's exciting 56-52 overtime win at Indian Hill on Friday, January 9th to set the Cowboys alone in the undefeated category in the CHL.

Wyoming opened the game with 5-1 lead only to see Indian Hill answer and retake the lead at 6-5. With 3:33 left in the 1st quarter, Wyoming regained lead 7-6 off a Lonnie Grayson 2. Within a minute, the Braves responded with a three At 2:12 left, Mason Rogers took in a two that got Wyoming back to a tie, 9-9. Braves with a three to take the lead then, with 1:12 left, Garyn Prater made a three to answer and bring it back to a tie, 12-12. With less than a minute to go, Lonnie had a steal at mid-court and took it to the basket for two, 12-14 Wyoming. Mason Rogers had a key defensive rebound and with five seconds left in the quarter Walker Lewis passed inside to Garyn who was fouled and made both foul shots. 12-16 Wyoming.

Scoring in the 2nd qtr. started slow in part because Hudson Rogers had a nice block early on then Nate Lowe had two needed defensive rebounds. With 5 minutes left, Wyoming still led but hadn't scored.  Soon after, Garyn was fouled and the score became 14-17 Wyo.  Garyn was fouled again on the next possession and the Braves got into the bonus with 7 team fouls. Around the 4 minute mark, Nate got a steal and went full court for two, 14-20 Wyo.  Things got tight on both sides defensively. Garyn was fouled again and Walker fought for a jump ball on the floor then, in the next possession, Walker passed to Garyn inside for a two and a score of 18-23 Wyo. The Braves responded with a 3 then, with about a minute to go, Nate got a steal, dished to Hudson who gave it back to Jake for two and a score of 21-25 Wyo. to end the half.

Early in the 3rd qtr.,Lonnie had a fast break and dished to Walker who was called for a charge while shooting then a Technical Foul was called on the Braves and the Cowboys got Free Throws for the Technical. At the 3:33mark, the Braves then went on a 18-2 run to go up 14 until Lonnie and Jake combined for 7 points in the last minute to keep the game in reach and the 3rd ended 40-33 Braves.

4th quarter notes: Jake in the lane to Garyn for a 3. Garyn steal and put-back for 2. Nate with a needed D rebound. Mason chased another needed D rebound. Jake 3. With less than  30 seconds in the qtr. and Cowboys down 3, Jake to Garyn who downed it for a 3 and a tie 49-49 and the game went to over time.

OT: Wyoming won the tip.  A minute in, Lonnie stole the ball and went two and an And 1. 49-52 Wyo.  Hudson tipped a D rebound to Mason. At 2:20 left, Garyn got a block. Seconds later, Lonnie was fouled and brought the score to 49-54 Wyo.  Indian Hill with and 3 to answer. Less than a minute left and the the score was 52-54 Wyoming when Mason was fouled. Hudson had another tipped D rebound that Mason grabbed. With 6.9 seconds left, Mason was fouled and brought the score to it's final 52-56 Wyoming!!!!
