Day One

After catching up on some sleep, Coach Dave Elliott described the Southwest Ohio High School Swimming and Diving Classic.

What is The Classic Swim Meet?  It is the biggest Swim Meet of its kind in the entire country.  Thousands of swimmers and divers compete in Prelim Sessions trying to qualify for the top 16 spots  at Finals.  The competition is fierce and very very competitive . Unlike the Tournament which will begin in early February, there are NO DIVISIONS separating the competition. Wyoming a DIVISION 2 school in Swimming & Diving was swimming among some powerhouse teams.  All this being said, lets see how we did...

Day One :
After getting up at the crack of dawn (4am),  we arrived at Miami University for Prelims.  Key events on this day were 400 Medley Relay, 50 Free, 200 Breast, 500 Free, 200 Free, and the 200 Free Relay.

Top performers of the day for our Boys:  Stephen Barrett, Max Chou , Carson Burt, Christopher Rutter, and Phil Brocker all making Finals...  more on that later.

Top Performers for our Girls :  Becca Prangley, Sara Washienko , Anne Criddle, and Lia Thomas all made finals as well.

Overall the first day of Classic  was a successful one, with many many best times being achieved throughout the day!!

Finals Time..... After a quick powernap and a Redbull (Just kidding, just tons of water) , the Finalists make their way to St. Xavier High School for one of the most exciting Finals Meets of the season.

Highlights Include:
Carson Burt - 50 free  0:22.19  11th Place
Stephen Barrett - 500 Free - 4:49.94   18th Place

Just a sidenote, 200 free relay at Prelims was a season best 1:44.25 with the same relay swimmers !!

That was Day One in a nutshell........  Day Two coming up!!
Stay Tuned.

As Miami University Aquatics staff has developed canonitis and had a nikondectomy, photos had to be provided by the swimmers.
