It's important that we all know the rules of the games we're watching so we can understand the game better, explain things to our kids, and yell at the refs with confidence. (How many of us really feel confident about offsides? I mean, if they had those cool graphics like at the World Cup, sure, but...).
Anyway, here are some updates to the Ohio High School Soccer rules for this year:
1. Either team may now substitute an unlimited number of players from the bench when a player is injured and removed from the field.
2. Any player who exhibits signs, symptoms or behaviors consistent with a concussion shall be immediately removed from the contest and shall not return to play until cleared by an appropriate health-care professional.
3. While a throw-in is being taken, an opponent must now stand at least two yards from the point at which the throw-in is being taken. Penalty: An official shall administer a caution for unsporting conduct if this is not observed.
