Panos leads Boys' Soccer to JV, Varsity sweep of Roger Bacon

Last night in the friendly confines of Bob Lewis Stadium the boys' soccer team opened its season in striking fashion.  The JV won 5-0.  Tony Gentry sang the National Anthem.  The Varsity won 6-0.  I'm guessing that's pretty much how Coach Thomas had scripted it.

For the varsity, senior captain Joe Panos and sophomore Nathan Meisner scored two goals each, while senior Jamie Meranus and sophomore Daniel Richtand tallied one each.

Every bit as impressive as the goals were some of the assists.  Joe had two to go along with his two goals, and Daniel had one to go with his goal.  In addition, senior captain Aaron Linn served one up as did junior Daniel Zimmerman.

The defense was stout, led by senior captain JB Heisey, helping the keeper combination of junior Evan Handler (four saves) and sophomore Harrison Glover (five saves) pitch a shutout.

Next up: tomorrow night at Lebanon, JV at 5:30, Varsity at 7.
