McKee, Jolson & Keller lead girls' soccer to victory in opener
The girls soccer team opened its season yesterday with a 2-0 win against Princeton. The Cowboys scored nine minutes into the second half on a corner kick from junior Michelle Jolson. Senior Nikki McKee headed the ball to the far post for the Cowboys first goal of the season. The second goal came with ten minutes remaining in the game when sophomore Carly Levick's shot was deflected out of the Viking keeper's hands. Michelle Jolson was there to put it away for the second goal.
The defense then held strong for the final 10 minutes of the game. The Cowboys saw excellent midfield play from senior Hailee Schlager and junior Meghan McAllister. Sophomore keeper Abby Keller recorded 12 saves en route to her first shutout.
Next up: home opener this Wednesday vs. McNick - JV at 5, Varsity at 7. Come out and support the girls as they begin their home campaign.
