Wyoming hockey?

Does Wyoming have a hockey team?  Well, yes and no.  We don't have an official school team, but we certainly have some Wyoming High School students playing some serious hockey on a "club" team. While the majority of the team's players are from Wyoming, they also have skaters from Walnut Hills, Princeton and Summit Country Day.  They play in the Cincinnati Amateur Hockey Association.

Coach Jim Flannery describes the Wyoming players:

#1-Joseph Dulemba. (Junior).. our top goalie. Joseph has a 88.5% save average. In 8 of his 15 starts, he has held the opponent to 3 or fewer goals per game.. the mark of a great goalie.

#16- Andrew Dunbar (Junior) plays right wing and has 22 goals and 14 assists already this season, the #3 scorer on the team.

#3- James Edwards (Senior) centers our second line and is one of the emotional leaders on the team. James is the #4 scorer on the team with 16 goals and 19 assists.

# 13 - Ted Schneider (Senior) is one of our anchor defense men. He has 13 assists from his defensive position and has been selected "Star of the Game" 5 times so far this season.

#7 - Brian Spitzig (Junior) is the Offensive Captain for the team, leads the team in points with 23 goals and 22 assists including 3 different "Hat-Tricks" (3 goals on a game) and 3 "playmaker" (3 assists in a game) games. Brian earns that "C" on his sweater every time he steps onto the ice.

#8 - Paul Swabek (Junior) is one of our utility men. He contributes mostly on defense, has 6 assists and 6 "Game Stars" this season.

The team would love some fan support as they head into the season ending tournament the weekend of February 26-28.  They are currently ranked 6th in their 13 team league.  Once seedings are final and the tourney schedule is complete we'll let you know exactly when and where you can see them, but reserve some time that weekend now.
(L to R): Forwards James Edwards, Andrew Dunbar and Brian Spitzig, Goaltender Joseph Dulemba (Thanks to the Dulembas for the picture)

Thanks to Coach Jim Flannery for the information and to Sherri Callaghan for the heads up.

  1. Great article! Good to see the boys regonized for once. I think we need a correction tho, James Edwards should be listed as the 3rd leading scorer and Andrew Dunbar as the 2nd
