Boys bowling advances to Districts

The Wyoming boys bowling team stunned several Cincinnati powerhouse teams yesterday and moved on to districts, a first in team history, with a strong outing.

Nick Burns led the way at anchor with a high game of 217.  Matt Brown added a 184, and Chris Bellman a 181.

The team format for the Sectional Championships consists of three games of regular bowling followed by six games of Baker format bowling.  (Baker Game: A method of team play in which five players bowl together to make one game; player #1 bowls frames 1 and 6; player #2 bowls frames 2 and 7 etc.)  The sum total of all team scores determines which teams advance to the District Championship.  The top eight teams advance.

After the regular bowling, the Cowboys were 13th out of 29 teams with only the top 8 moving forward.  After leading off with a 233 Baker game the rest was history for the Cowboys, placing number 3 in bakers as they rolled past St. Xavier, Monroe, Loveland, Walnut Hills and Hamilton to move up to 8th place and win the chance to move to districts next Saturday 2/27 at Eastern Lanes in Middletown.  Individual competition starts at 9:15 AM and Baker games at 1 PM.

Coach Pollington added, "We would love support to root the Cowboys to victory as we battle for a chance to advance to state!"
