Yesterday at the C.T. Branin Natatorium in Canton, Celia Oberholzer successfully defended the state 100 Backstroke title she won last year as a sophomore. She had a serious challenge though, out touching Marissa Cominelli of Gates Mills Hawkens by one 100th of a second. Celia's time of 56.64 was more than a quarter second faster than her 2009 state championship time of 56.91.
Long time Wyoming -ite, -ers, have we ever had a repeat state champion before? Who, when, etc.?
The 200 Medley Relay team of Celia, Mariah Akinbi, Rachael Theiler, Abby Gibbons took fourth place.
Celia also placed 7th in the 50 Free.
The girls team finished 7th, just one point back of sixth place Chagrin Falls. This is their fourth straight top ten finish.
