Pin-terest in Our Matmen

Wyoming finished 6th at the Wyoming Duals. Round by round results are as follows:
Win over Roger Bacon 51-12
Lost to Miamisburg 15-51 (Champions)
Win over Clermont Northeastern 52-24
Lost to Moeller (B) 27-44 (3rd Place team)
Lost to Loveland 38-40 (5th Place team)

A lot of great wrestling took place. Three matches (for the Cowboys) had exciting finishes.

Noah Pitman was tied 4-4 with about 30 seconds to go in the 3rd period. Pitman held his opponent from Clermont Northeastern down for the remainder of the period to take the match into overtime. Pitman got a takedown to win with about 20 seconds to go to seal the deal.

Charlie Oliver was down 4 points with 15 seconds to go.  He took his opponent down for a takedown (2 points) and got a 5 count (nearfall points)  (which would give him 3 points) to secure a one point win, but  Oliver pinned his opponent from Moeller with 1 second on the clock to win!

However, the most exciting match of the day, for the Cowboys, was the 220 pound match against Miamisburg. Ike Palmer was down 6 points with 20 seconds ago. Palmer was put to his back, but fought off his and turned it around on his opponent. Palmer reversed him, but could only win by a pin (there was not enough time left to get enough points).  He did secure a 5 count from the official (3 nearfall points), but still was down 1 point. Palmer worked, positioned himself,  and squeezed his way to try to get a  pin…with 1 second on the clock…the official slapped the mat and Palmer was victorious.

Next up for the Cowboys is the first round of the state duals against Goshen at Ross High School on Wednesday at 5 p.m.

Thanks to Coach Pitman for the report, and
Thanks to Kim Boyd for the great photos.
