Cowboys Wear Out the Warriors

The Wyoming girls took a major step towards claiming their first CHL Championship since 2008 with a 41-35 win over Mariemont Wednesday night.  The game featured plenty of defense by both teams.  The 41 and 35 points were a season low for each squad.  Marta Stewart, Emily Wadds, and Hailey Stewart did a fantastic job of denying easy buckets for Mariemont’s post players.  Bored with just doing work on the defensive end, Wadds dominated on the offensive side of the floor knocking down a season high 19 points.  Emily’s 10 rebounds in the game were good enough for her fourth double-double of the season.  Natalie Burchard picked up the defensive intensity denying the passing lanes with four steals to go with her 5 points.  Hailey Stewart (8), Ashli O’neil (7), and Kayla Hampton (2) rounded out the scoring for the Cowboys.
Some credit should be given to the Wyoming student section and all of the fans for coming out, getting in the heads of the opposition, and making The Stable a difficult place to play.  A special thanks to all of the Wyoming teachers and staff that came to support each player who they have inspired.
The Cowboys move to 16-1 (11-1 CHL) with their next home game scheduled for Wednesday, February 5th vs Reading.
