Mason girls have good shot at Div. I team title
In Divisions II-III, Indian Hill and Wyoming should have a season-long battle for the top spot in the area.
Indian Hill senior Elizabeth Heinbach has three consecutive top-10 finishes in the Division II state meet and is the top returning placer from last year when she was fifth. Heinbach took second at the state track meet in the 3,200 meters. Wyoming is led by senior Emily Stites, who made her first trip to state in cross country last year and placed fifth in both the 1,600 and 3,200 meters at the state track meet this past spring. Summit Country Day returns four of its top five runners, including sophomore Kylie VonHandorf and senior Hannah Eyer.
Tighter contest expected for boys harriers
In Divisions II and III, Mariemont, Wyoming, New Richmond, Georgetown and Summit County Day should all be in the mix of top teams.
Summit won the D-III regional title last year and placed sixth at the state meet. Senior Charlie Michel is the leader.
Mariemont returns four runners from a team that placed sixth at the regional last year, led by junior Emmett Saulnier.
Junior Nick McAfee is the only returning individual state qualifier in Division III.
Wyoming returns five of its top seven from the Division II district champions, led by seniors Andrew Tamanko and Seth Gold.
Finneytown junior Alex Hughes won the CHL and district titles.
