The Powel Crosley YMCA swim team had the best Nationals finish since 2001, 14th out of 123 teams, at the recent YMCA Long Course National Championships in Atlanta, Georgia.
A number of Wyoming athletes led the way, most notably Celia Oberholzer, who won the National Championship in the 50 Backstroke. Video of the race here.
The following athletes were able to score points for PCY:
Besides Celia winning the national champion in the 50 Backstroke, she took 2nd place in the 100 Backstroke (lost by .06!), and 19th in 200 Backstroke.
Eric Lethander - 5th in 50 Fly, 10th in 50 Free, 14th 100 Fly
Jonathan Rutter - 6th in 200 Breaststroke, 16th in 100 Breaststroke, 19th in 50 Breaststroke
AJ Burt- 5th in 50 Breaststroke, 17th in 100 Breaststroke
Mariah Akinbi - 8th in 50 Breaststroke
Rachael Theiler - 19th in 50 Breaststroke
PCY also scored in all but one of the relays including Wyoming athletes:
200 medley relay (Celia, Mariah and Rachel) - 3rd
200 medley relay (AJ, Eric and Owen Dunbar) - 14th
400 Medley Relay (Celia, Rachael) - 18th
400 Medley Relay (AJ, Eric, Pat Dierker) - 17th
200 Free Relay (Rachael, Celia) - 9th
200 Free Relay (Eric, Pat, AJ, Owen) - 11th
400 Free Relay (Celia) - 9th
400 Free Relay (Eric, Owen, AJ, Pat) - 8th
800 Free Relay (Alex Burgess, Pat, AJ, Eric) - 13th
