Football team defeats Mariemont

Wyoming had another great Homecoming Friday night this past...uh...Friday night.

It started off of course with the parade.  The seniors were led by their homecoming court.

The juniors were led, as they were all week, by Garrett.

The sophomores were led by Lucy.

And the freshmen were led by, well, they're still working on that whole leadership thing.

And you can't have a parade without scouts.

Everyone arrived safely, ready to rock Bob Lewis Stadium.

The grill team was in place.

The cheerleaders were assembled.

And come on, a football game is not a football game without the band.

Now all we needed was to put a "W" in the books.  These guys had to miss all the parade fun but showed up to take care of Mariemont.

The game didn't seem to be in doubt for long.  We were up 10-0 at the end of the first quarter and really put it away in the second with three TD's to head into the locker room (non homecoming-court players at least) with a 31-7 lead.  The 37-21 final makes it sound closer than it was (IMHO).

Mariemont's only score in the first three quarters came in the second, when we turned the ball over to them on our 10 yard line due to an errant punt snap.  They got two late TD's in the fourth quarter.  When it counted, our first team D shut down their first team O.

Jonathan Tighe (showing good hands here catching the back half of the football) caught three Robert Gomez touchdown passes, good for 18, 39 and 23 yards.  In all, Jonathan had 6 receptions for 123 yards.  Robert was 7-16 on the night.

Drew Perry carried 23 times for 157 yards and a TD.  However, the ball carrier with the best average per rush was Tommy Campbell, at 20 yards per carry.  OK - he just had the one carry.  But still.

Halftime included the crowning of Queen Grace Brown and King Grant LeMasters.

And a flash mob.

All in all, a satisfying but tiring week and night.
