The Wyoming girls soccer team kicked off a promising season on Saturday with a convincing 3-1 win over Little Miami. Coaches Gruber and Edmonds are blessed with a large group of returning juniors and seniors as well as some new additions from the freshman class. This should give them the versatility to use lots of different lineups to keep opponents on their toes.
After a scoreless first half, the Cowboys got to work in the second half. Kayla Hampton, junior, scored the first goal with a soft touch to the left side. Little Miami scored next on a penalty kick after a questionable handball was called inside Wyoming's box. Wyoming's active midfielders and forwards kept pressing and Chelsea Davis, senior, fed Kayla a nice serve for goal number 2.
Goal number 3 came from Casey Jervier, junior, with a beautiful ball to the upper corner which sealed Wyoming's victory.
Junior goalie, Lauren Metz and her solid line of defenders worked tirelessly to keep Little Miami's forwards out of shooting range.
On Wyoming as they face Princeton on Monday and Roger Bacon on Wednesday - let's repeat our District Championship!
