The boys' lacrosse team suffered a tough loss Wednesday night at Springboro.
At the end of the 1st quarter, the Cowboys were down 5-1. At the half, we still trailed by four, 7-3. We came back in the 3rd to take a 9-8 lead. The game was tied going into the final two minutes. Springboro then scored with 28 seconds left in the game, to pull ahead by one. Austin Hughes took a Hail Mary shot from the 50 yard line before the buzzer sounded and scored...just after the buzzer...so it didn't count!
Final score: Springboro 12, Wyoming 11
Travis Courtney had his best game of the season, scoring five goals and getting one assist. Griffin O'Gara had one goal and three assists. Sam Meyers scored twice and had an assist. David Moody and James McAllister each had one goal and one assist. Austin had one goal.
Loose Balls Controlled leaders were Travis, Dominic Vamosi and Harrison Wood, all with six, and Larson Graham with five.
Goalie Frank Barzizza had 13 saves out of 35 shots.
Corbin Guggenheim won 13 of 24 faceoffs.
Next up: Friday at Bishop Fenwick, JV at 6, Varsity at 8.
