The girls' basketball team went into Withrow Saturday afternoon and faced an obstacle that they hadn't seen all season - a 6' 5" opposing center.
Once the girls adjusted to her presence on the inside they fell back on what has served them well - a swarming defense that frustrated New Richmond's efforts to get the ball up the court and into the hands of the aforementioned Josie Buckingham (a FRESHMAN!). They came away with a 58-40 win.
Nikki McKee led all scorers with 32. Hailee Schlager put in 10, Michelle Jolson nine and Mary Tess Irvine added six. Clara Rodrigue led with five floor burns.
The girls are now an impressive 19-3 on the season.
They advance out of our bracket to face Chaminade-Julienne, which defeated top-seeded (in their bracket) and #6 in the state ranked Bellbrook 57-55. The game is this Friday, March 4th at Mason H.S. at 9 PM.
