Girls' basketball defeats Goshen in second round of tourney

After having a bye the first round, the girls' basketball team went to Withrow last night to take on Goshen, which had defeated Norwood to advance to the second round of the tournament.  The girls brought home a hard-fought 46-42 victory.

They advance to play Saturday against New Richmond, which has defeated Aiken and Finneytown.  The game has been moved to 3 PM, so Wyoming fans can catch the boys' basketball game at Mason at 12:30 and then get to Withrow in time for the girls' tip.  Tickets are available at the school.  As a reminder, they're cheaper and the school gets a cut when you buy them there.

Full bracket here, although it's still showing (INCORRECTLY) a 2:00 tip.

Goshen played a very solid, disciplined game.  They were VERY patient on offense.  The game was tied at 27 through three quarters.

In the end it was our defense that made the difference.  In the second half we ran a triangle and two with Nikki McKee and Clara Rodrigue covering Goshen's best offensive players.  Then Michelle Jolson made two key steals down the stretch.

We also were 5-8 from beyond the arc.

Nikki had 21 points and six rebounds, Hailee Schlager 14 points and six boards, and Michelle had 10 points and four assists.
