Girls soccer loses (barely) in state semi-finals

The Wyoming girls soccer team fell just short last night of qualifying for the state championship on Saturday.  The game against Bexley was tied at 2-2 at the end of regulation and stayed that way through two overtime periods.  It came down to penalty kicks, which Bexley won 3-2.  The Roundup was never a fan of this form of deciding a game, and is even less so after watching both our boys and girls soccer teams lose in this format.

Michelle Jolson scored both of the goals in regulation last night.  Her first goal came in the 22nd minute of the game to tie things at 1-1.

Her second came with 18:28 left in regulation from Jenni Marck and Jillian Anderson

Alas, they were not enough.  Bexley scored about 5 minutes later on a direct kick, eventually sending the game into overtime.

Although it will take a while for the pain to wear off, this team played mightily and should look back on this season with tremendous pride.  They set records for most wins and most shutouts.

Congratulations to the players and coaches for an outstanding season.
