Swimming and Diving - UPDATED

High School

On Tuesday, January 5th, the team hosted St. X and McCauley.  Some event winners were:

Brianna Connock - 100 Breast
Brianna Connock - 200 IM
Anne Criddle - 500 Free
Christopher Rutter - 200 IM
Lia Thomas - 50 Free
Sara Washienko - 100 Free

We have an update for the diving season as well.

December 5th  - Multiple team meet at Mariemont
Boys:  Charlie D. placed 3rd out of 20 divers
Girls:  Katy V. – 12th place; Sami W. – 13th place, Adrienne S. – 15th place out of 26 divers

December 12th  - Multiple team meet at Mariemont
Boys:  Illusha G. placed 5th out of 11 divers
(Charlie competed in a separate meet in Mason)
Girls:  Sami W. – 6th place, Katy V. - 8th place, Adrienne S. - 9th place out of 19 divers

December 16th – Multiple team meet at UC
Boys:  Charlie – 3rd place
Girls:  Adrienne – 10th place

December 19th – Multiple team meet at Mariemont
Boys:  Charlie – 2nd place

January 2nd – Dual meet vs. Sycamore
Boys:  Charlie – 1st place
Girls:  Adrienne – 2nd place, Sami – 3rd place

January 6th – Multiple team meet at UC
Boys:  Charlie – 1st place
Girls:  Adrienne – 5th place, Katy – 6th place

Middle School

Coach Toerner gave us the details from the Saturday, January 9th, the Middle School Championship Meets.  

Overall, at A Champs the girls team placed second overall, the boys placed 8th overall, the combined team scores earned third place overall (out of 22 teams). This was a highly competitive meet with 22 middle school teams in attendance. The swimmers put forth dozens of great swims, with lots of best times across the board. It was a fun and exciting meet to end the season! Congratulations to all who participated! The following swimmers placed in the top 3 in their events:
Mia Hammersmith placed 3rd in the women's 200 freestyle
Connor Moore placed 2nd in the men's 200 freestyle
Chloe Akers placed 2nd in the women's 25 breaststroke
Jaime Donovan placed 3rd in the men's 100 IM
Mikaela Elliott placed 3rd in the women's 500 freestyle
Mia Hammersmith placed 3rd in the women's 100 freestyle

At B Champs, the girls team placed second, the boys team placed fourth, and the combined team scores earned second place overall. Despite the inclimate weather, all swimmers managed to make it to the meet, and we saw lots of fantastic races and plenty of best times. The following swimmers placed in the top 3 in their events:
Grayson Savage placed 2nd in the 50 freestyle
Audrey Renz placed 2nd in the 25 backstroke
Anna Draper placed first in the 50 breaststroke

This was a great, albeit short, middle school season! Congratulations to all of the swimmers on their sportsmanship and accomplishments, and thank you to all of our families for the continued support and help!
