Podium Finish for Boys Golf

From Coach Crider

The WHS Boys Varsity Golf Team concluded its season on Thursday 10/4 with a third place finish in the Southwest Ohio District Tournament @ Weatherwax golf course in Middletown.  The format of high school golf calls for the top 2 teams to advance to the State Finals, and Wyoming (team total of 333) finished 7 shots behind 2nd place Kettering Alter (326).  Oakwood won the District Tournament with a team total of 311.  For the day, Wyoming was led by Freshman Sam Marty, who shot an 81.  Other scores posted for the Cowboys included Senior Max Wiethe and Sophomore Stephen Cholvat, who both shot 83 and Junior Chris Betagole who shot an 86. Over the last six weeks of the season in head to matches, WHS finished with a sterling record of 17 wins and 2 losses.   The team’s overall record for the year, including CHL and other invitational tournaments, was 32 – 5.  The highlight of the season definitely came at the end of the year as the team captured its first CHL Championship since 2007 and its first Division II Sectional Championship since 2009. Thanks to everyone who came out and supported the team throughout the season.  We’re excited for next year, and a chance to defend the CHL title, and make a run at a berth in the State Championship.

Congratulations on a great season!
