The boys basketball team went into Wednesday night's game ranked #14 in the Enquirer Coaches poll for Divisions II-IV. They were taking on the #9 ranked Reading Blue Devils. In a very quick game (the Roundup got there late and almost missed the whole thing), the Cowboys prevailed 44-40. The win moves the Cowboys into a third place tie with Reading at 5-3 in the league. Overall it drops Reading to 9-4 and improves Wyoming to 7-5.
Reading took a 34-29 lead into the fourth quarter but the Cowboys outscored them 15-6 in the final period to garner the victory. Tony Davis scored 10 of those 15 points to pave the way. He totalled 25 for the night in addition to snagging 10 rebounds. (Apparently he is over the flu.) He and Jacob Allsop were each 2-2 from the free throw line in the last minute to preserve the win. Jacob had 8 points on the night, with Eric Price chipping in 9 and Evan Aleshire (back in action from a concussion) contributed a pair. Interestingly, over half of Reading's points came on threes. They made 7, accounting for 21 of their 40 points. Wyoming did not record a three-pointer.
