A little preseason info: The Wyoming girls' lacrosse team is a bit smaller this year, with 29 players for JV and Varsity. That being the case, many of our girls will show up on both rosters, as all 24 girls named to Varsity have been asked to play in a couple JV games over the season to help set the example for their younger teammates.
The coaching staff of Anne Murphy (Varsity), Tom Crawford (JV), Kristen Gilwee (Goalie), and Kristen Kushler (Attack specialist) is excited to have so many strong players, sure to make this the most competitive season yet!
As to Saturday's action, the JV won against Kings 7 - 5 with goals scored by Becky Denson (1), Lexie Miller (1), Emma Komrska (1), Maggie Hughes (1), Emma Pendery (1) and Emily Wadds (2). Allee Martin was in goal and put in a solid performance with 50% saves!
The Varsity faced a stronger Kings team, losing with a final score of 2 - 7.
Wyoming goals were scored by Adi Smith and Julie King. Emily Wadds started in goal and had 75% saves by the time she left the field due to injury concerns with 5:15 left in the second half. Allee Martin stepped back into the cage to finish the game and gave the defense a focused field commander to rally around.
Next up: the team will travel to Summit for its next game Wednesday 3/28 and have its home opener Thursday 3/29 with JV playing Little Miami and Varsity facing Springboro.
