University of Cincinnati football coach Butch Jones is scheduled to be the keynote speaker at the 45th National Football Foundation’s “That’s My Boy” award banquet Feb. 28 at the Westin at 7 p.m.Article here.
The award is based upon the accumulation of points in football achievements, academic achievement and extracurricular and community activities. The award will be announced at the Scholar-Athlete Dinner in the Presidential Ballroom. Doors will open at 6 p.m. with the dinner at 7 p.m.
The finalists for Ohio’s award: Joe Burger, La Salle; Sean Horan, Kings; Spencer Howard, Western Brown; Max Kadish, Wyoming; Brandon Kamp, Oak Hills; Sha’Khil Kelly, Withrow; Cody Lotton, Ross; Josh Thiel, Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy and Luke Wurzelbacher of Badin.
Bernie Barre, former Wyoming and Beechwood football coach, will receive the NFF chapter’s “Lifetime Achievement” award.
Barre announced Jan. 2 he would retire from education and coaching at the conclusion of Wyoming’s school year. Barre has a 317-108 coaching record overall, including 182-54 at Wyoming the past 21 years.
