You're Going to Have to Earn It

Even if you are the AD, and even if your, uh, vehicle, is loaded down with Cowboy gear, this will NOT be enough to win the contest.

What contest you ask?  The Most-Sprited Car and Team contests at the Booster's Kick Off Tail Gate Party on Friday, August 29th in the Municipal Lot off of Springfield Pike near the tennis courts and right next to the football stadium from 5 to 7.  The T-Shirt Company's Spirit Wear Store will be there with all of the necessities, and so will Chill Shaved Ice, Kaimelsky's, and Cuban Pete, as well as music from Landline.

A Show of Hands

The volleyball team hosted Fairfield on Thursday, August 21st.  They are a modest bunch over there in the Volleyball Command Center.  They don't like to brag on themselves.  So all I have are the final scores.
(Wyoming d. Fairfield 25-22, 23-25, 13-25, 25-13, 15-5)
What I don't have are the stories behind those scores.  You know, how Lucy served that wicked ace, how Patty didn't let anything get past her up front, and how when all seemed lost, the spike by the little red-haired girl reignited the team.    If their vows of volleyball silence prevent them from telling their own tale then I guess it falls to you.

Let's see if anyone else agrees.
Who here thinks we need someone to submit reports about the volleyball team to the Round Up?
Raise your hand.
We'll all be eagerly awaiting the first report you send to wyoroundup@gmail.com.

Until then, enjoy the following photos from the match.

Great Margins Against Anderson

Jen Hays always serves up the freshest in Boys Soccer news.  This time we hear about the Thursday, August 21st game against Anderson.
The Wyoming men's varsity soccer team played Anderson last night.  It took a few minutes for the Cowboys to get moving, but once they did they couldn't be stopped.  First half saw Jay Klein turn the ball beautifully, aim for the far post, and land it in the net.  Andrew Derge was fouled in the box, giving Toby Varland the opportunity to sink a nice penalty kick to make it 2-0.  Although in the second half Anderson scored off a corner kick, the Cowboys answered back.  Andrew Derge had a great break away and carried it right down to the net, (making us spectators very nervous at how long he waited).  Andy Renggli had an awesome power shot from about the 25 yard line.  Andrew Derge must have been on the Redskins radar as once again he was fouled in the box giving Toby Varland another opportunity to score on the penalty kick.  Anderson did end up scoring off another corner kick, but it just wasn't enough.

Cowboys came out victorious over Anderson 5-2.   Way to go Cowboys!

Next game is away at Madeira on Tuesday, August 26th.  JV plays at 5:00. Varsity plays at 7:00.
Thanks to Jen Hays for the report, and
Thanks to Deb Varland for the great pictures.

Are you going to stand for that?  Well, are ya'?
Make sure you do your part this season and support our boys and girls in blue all the way to the top.

This Time With Words

We previously posted powerful pictures from the Girls Soccer Scrimmage against Roger Bacon on Monday, August 18th.  The post was also a thinly veiled request for reports for the Girls Soccer team.

Success... Retro-Active Success.

Kara Pendery has picked up the banner for the team.  She actually picked it some time ago, and the only reason she wasn't carrying it on Monday was because it wouldn't fit under the bleachers where she was trying to avoid the rain.  Now that her notes have dried out, she has sent in the following report.
So.....the belief on the Wyoming Parent section was the first goal scored for Wyoming, was actually a header off of a Roger Bacon player. Who knows.....but that is what the consensus was.  The monsoon started at the half.  The girls played for quite some time in a torrential downpour.  I was hiding under the bleachers trying to stay dry and missed Roger Bacon scoring on Wyoming.  The score was 1 -1.  Wyoming dominated the majority of the game, but we couldn't get one in the net.....until 4 seconds were left in the game.  Kayla Hampton made a beautiful shot for Wyoming to go on top 2 -1.  Final score...... 2 - 1.
Our first game is this Saturday 8/23 at Little Miami; JV @ 3pm and Varsity @ 5pm.  The ladies then travel to Princeton on Monday 8/25; JV @ 5pm and Varsity @ 7pm.  The home opener is against Madeira, Wednesday 8/27 JV @ 5pm and Varsity @ 7pm.

My apologies and thanks to Kara Pendery for the report, and
Thanks to Rod Apfelbeck for the great pictures.

Soccer Short Against Walnut Hills

Jen Hays reported from the Boys Soccer season opener on Saturday, August 16th:
The Wyoming Men's Varsity soccer team had their season opener on Saturday.  The Cowboys played well the first half holding off Walnut Hills until the final two minutes of the half when Walnut Hills scored two goals.  After halftime, the guys just couldn't seem to regroup, leaving it open for Walnut Hills to score two more goals in the second half.  Jay Klein did come through with a beautiful far post shot and goal.  But the Cowboys ended up falling a bit short and losing to Walnut Hills 4-1.

Valiant effort guys!

Next game is Tuesday, August 19th at home vs. Princeton High School.
JV plays at 5:00.
Varsity plays at 7:00.
Come on out and route them on.
Should be a great game!
Good luck Cowboys!

Thanks to Jen Hays for the report and
Thanks to Deb Varland for the great pictures.
