Fall Sports Awards - Girls Soccer

From Coach Gruber

Defensive MVP - Abby Keller
Abby has been our anchor in the back for the past 3 seasons, often making difficult saves look easy with her athletic ability. She has verbally committed to play at Indian State next year.
- 5 shutouts (3 in CHL) for 2012 season
- 25 career shutouts (13 in the CHL)

Offensive MVP - Emma Klug
Emma is our engine in the middle and what we look to do almost everything through. Not only did she lead the team in scoring, but was often the catalyst for our offensive attacks that resulted in other scoring opportunities.
- 4 goals for 2012 season
- 12 career goals & 9 assists

Cowboy Award - Morgan Kremzar
This award is meant to embody the characteristics and values that our soccer program stands for. Morgan was an exemplary player with her coach-ability, positivity, hard work ethic, and team first attitude. As a defender, she is not someone who would ever appear in the stats in the paper, but her contribution on and off the field was integral in the team's progression this season.

Arete Award - Georgia Smith
I stole this award from the basketball program (Thanks Angie!). Arete is a Greek word that when loosely translated means, "Be the best that you can be." Despite the personal hardships she has endured, Georgia's commitment to make the most of any situation has been evident throughout her 4 years with the program. She developed into an integral member, earning 4 varsity letters, contributing to 40 shutouts over her career, and raising her teammates expectations of success with her experience on the 2009 team that made the run to the State Final 4.

Congratulations to all of the girls on their awards and best of luck to the three seniors!!!
