Girls Lacrosse

From Coach Crawford:

The Cowboys traveled to Anderson HS Tuesday night for their first conference game of the season.  Both JV and Varsity squads fell short against a scrappy Anderson team.

Goalie Olivia Grady recorded 5 saves in the JV game, final score Wyoming 5 to Anderson 8.  Goals were lead by Ellie Marty (3) followed by Madelyn Taylor (1) and Riley Bahr (1).  Riley Bahr lead the team with 6 Draw Controls with 2 each by Sophie Walton and Madelyn Taylor.

In the Varsity game, the Cowboys exchanged goals with Anderson to build an 8 to 6 lead with 8 minutes left in the first half.   Anderson then went on a 4 goal run before the Cowboys answered in the final minute of the half to trail 9 to 10.  In  the opening minutes of the second half, the Cowboys reestablished themselves with an 11 to 10 lead.  But a twelve minute Cowboy scoring drought followed allowing Anderson to score 5 goals and take the lead 11 to 15.  The Cowboys played with great purpose as the second half came to a close falling short in the end, final score Wyoming 14 to Anderson 16.  Goalie Claire Mellott recorded 7 important saves to keep the game close.  Goals were scored by Reilly Simmons (4), Marielle Smith (3), Lindsay Stewart (2), Libby Wadds (2), Haley Stewart (2), and Ashley Moher (1).  Haley Stewart set a new Wyoming record for Draw Controls in a game at (10), followed by Katie Wadds (3), Lindsay Stewart (2), Emily Wood (1), Madelyn Taylor (1), Kelly Lyons (1), and Grace Steiner (1).

Next up, Home games with Mt. Notre Dame this Saturday.  JV gametime is 2pm, Varsity gametime is 3:30.
