Win One

From Coach Crawford:

The Girl's lacrosse team hosted Lakota East on Saturday in their season opener.

The JV came a way with a victory with 44 seconds left in the game from a free position score by attacker Lauren Montgomery, final score 5 to 4.  Montgomery lead all scorers with 3 goals, followed by Riley Bahr (1) and Hope Connelly (1).  An impressive defensive game was turned in by the Cowboys with Goalie Olivia Grady making 8 saves to shutoff East's scoring opportunities.  Ground balls were lead by Ellie Marty (4) and draw controls by Riley Bahr (3).

The Varsity captured their first win against a scrappy East squad, final score 14 to 10.  The Cowboys were up 4 to 3 in the first seven minutes of play when they put an offensive show to go into the half 11 to 5.  Goalie Claire Mellott made key saves (4) and directed the defensive squad to slow and frustrate East's scoring runs.  Goals were lead by Riley Simmons with 5, followed by Marielle Smith (3), Ashley Moher (2), Libby Wadds (2), Lindsay Stewart (1), Kelly Lyons (1).  Marielle Smith lead the team with 5 assists.  Draw controls were lead by defender Emily Wood with 6 followed by Lindsay Stewart (4), Molly Izenson (2), and one each by Elizabeth Hughes, Madelyn Taylor, M. Smith, Caroline Meis, and Grace Steiner.
