I somehow missed posting last week's TCP (maybe the picture of Seth Gold fraternizing with the enemy - Mariemont Cross Country runner Mara Coyan - was too much for me to take). Anyhow, it's here, and actually the article about the CHL CC camp is very good (despite Seth's treachery).

Jeff King, WHS '07, graduates from OU, agrees to stay on an extra year
Wyoming grad Jeff King (above with folks Kathy and Jeff) graduated recently from Ohio University, but has agreed to stay on and Captain the football team for the 2011 season. I guess when you are trying to maintain your 6' 1" 271 pound frame while working out like a fiend, free board is a very good thing.
Here are a couple of shots from the OU athletic facilities with the captains' names and likenesses (Jeff is #98).
2011 schedule is here so you can get a game on your calendar now.
Finally, there's an interview with Jeff posted here. Look for "Better Know a Bobcat: Jeff King" with the little video camera icon in the upper middle right part of the page.

Super Saturday Drivers Needed
The Wyoming Athletic Boosters are looking for volunteers to help as drivers for the Super Saturday fund raiser on August 20th.
Super Saturday is the only major fund raising event for the athletic program during the school year. Roughly forty percent of the athletic department’s budget comes from the Boosters. It has been a tradition for nearly 50 years to send our athletes out into our neighborhoods seeking donations.
On Saturday, August 20st at 9:45 a.m., the day will begin with a meeting for the drivers in the Wyoming High School cafeteria. The driver’s responsibilities will be to remain on the assigned route to supervise and ensure the safety of our athletes, keep track of their progress and encourage complete coverage. When finished they are to return the monies collected and any materials in the large envelopes to the teachers’ lounge near the cafeteria. The event usually wraps up by noon.
It's that easy! Please come on out and help with this great fund raiser and tradition for Wyoming High School Athletics!
Please contact Christine and Tim Marty either by phone 821-9410 or by email christine.marty@fuse.net or timm@tedmarty.com. Just link on our email link to sign up now!

Preseason football notes
Preseason football notes from Mike Dyer here.
Wyoming senior Max Kadish, a standout baseball player, will be a cornerback/slot/running back for the Cowboys this season.
Wyoming senior free safety/wide receiver Chris Campbell (6-1, 175) will be a second-year starter.
Wyoming senior left tackle Terrry Davis (6-4, 305), a three-year starter, is considering (in no particular order) UC, Indiana, Illinois, North Carolina State and Louisville. Davis said he plans to visit Louisville July 26 and also wants to visit N.C. State.
Kadish said Wyoming lost a significant amount of seniors and a “lot of people are doubting” the Cowboys, but he said this year’s group is determined to prove itself.
Davis said the team is looking forward to playing in the first game in Southwest Ohio when Wyoming plays Walnut Hills Aug. 24 at Colerain at 7 p.m.

Booster Meeting
Booster President Tom Horn has announced that the next Booster meeting will be held on August 9th. Meetings are held at the High School Media Center (just inside the main - far left as you're facing the high school - entrance) at 7 PM.
It will be new AD Scott Kaufman's first official Booster meeting so it might be worth coming just to see the expression on his face when he realizes that we're little more than an unruly mob. (I'm kidding - we're much more than just an unruly mob.)
All are welcome.

Eh, Happy Canada Day
The Roundup would like to wish a happy Canada Day to Booster Vice President Jim Leish and any other hosers out there.
More importantly, we would like to point out that the NFL Network is broadcasting what Jim calls "real football", and no, he's not referring to the Women's World Cup (soccer).
Rather he means the Canadian Football League, which kicked off its season last night with an exciting 30-26 victory by the Montreal Alouettes over the British Columbia Lions. By the way, did you know that "Alouette" means skylark in french? It does. Thus the children's song Alouette, gentille Alouette translates to:
Little skylark, lovely little skylark
Little lark, I'll pluck your feathers off
I’ll pluck the feathers off your head
I’ll pluck the feathers off your head
Off your head - off your head
Little lark, little lark
O-o-o-o-oh
And then subsequent verses of:
Off your beak
Off your neck
Off your back
Off your wings
Off your feet
Off your tail
Anyway, if you'd rather watch football, such as it is, rather than trying to figure out how to pluck feathers off a Skylark's beak, check out the NFL Network's CFL schedule. (It may be the only pro football we have this year - eh?)
Then you can have an all-American Fourth of July weekend, as will The Roundup, watching soccer from Germany, tennis from England, and football from Canada.
