We met the surgeon today and he wants us to be in a wait and see mode. He thinks the different fractures and resulting problems (double vision, some movement restriction) will heal well enough that the risk of surgery is greater than the risk of leaving the broken areas alone. We will see him again in a week, and by then I think we will have to make a decision. The swelling should be reduced significantly by then and we will be able to evaluate eye function as well as appearance.
He also wants us to see another specialist to evaluate the fracture in her nose, and we meet with the retinal specialist (Mike Petersen) again tomorrow.
We are still in the information gathering mode, but the information tends to be positive and we are very thankful for that.
Thanks for your continued thoughts and prayers.
Claudia
