Football team defeats Mariemont

Wyoming had another great Homecoming Friday night this past...uh...Friday night.

It started off of course with the parade.  The seniors were led by their homecoming court.

The juniors were led, as they were all week, by Garrett.

The sophomores were led by Lucy.

And the freshmen were led by, well, they're still working on that whole leadership thing.

And you can't have a parade without scouts.

Everyone arrived safely, ready to rock Bob Lewis Stadium.

The grill team was in place.

The cheerleaders were assembled.

And come on, a football game is not a football game without the band.

Now all we needed was to put a "W" in the books.  These guys had to miss all the parade fun but showed up to take care of Mariemont.

The game didn't seem to be in doubt for long.  We were up 10-0 at the end of the first quarter and really put it away in the second with three TD's to head into the locker room (non homecoming-court players at least) with a 31-7 lead.  The 37-21 final makes it sound closer than it was (IMHO).

Mariemont's only score in the first three quarters came in the second, when we turned the ball over to them on our 10 yard line due to an errant punt snap.  They got two late TD's in the fourth quarter.  When it counted, our first team D shut down their first team O.

Jonathan Tighe (showing good hands here catching the back half of the football) caught three Robert Gomez touchdown passes, good for 18, 39 and 23 yards.  In all, Jonathan had 6 receptions for 123 yards.  Robert was 7-16 on the night.

Drew Perry carried 23 times for 157 yards and a TD.  However, the ball carrier with the best average per rush was Tommy Campbell, at 20 yards per carry.  OK - he just had the one carry.  But still.

Halftime included the crowning of Queen Grace Brown and King Grant LeMasters.

And a flash mob.

All in all, a satisfying but tiring week and night.

Football game pictures, crowd shots, etc. here.

Cowboys Care Week starts today!

As a reminder, Cowboys Care Week begins today.  From Hailee Schlager:

The benefit for the Galloway family starts today! There will be four benefit games - the girls' soccer game tonight, the boys' soccer and girls' volleyball games tomorrow night, and finally the football game on October 15th. A portion of the admissions from the soccer and volleyball games will go to the family. Also we will be selling shirts, having a donation bucket and other activities going on during all of these sporting events. Starting tonight Wyoming, please come out and support the Galloway family as much as you can.

Vote for Jonathan

Go here and vote for Jonathan Tighe for Primetime Performer of the Week.

Jonathan caught 6 passes for 123 yards and three touchdowns Friday night.  He also returned two kickoffs for 31 yards.

Voting ends at midnight on Monday.

9.25.2010

I know it's late notice, but....

The boys' golf team and its five seniors are playing in the CHL
Championship at Sharon Woods today. Actually right now.
Coach Crider expects the first group to come in at about 4:30, the last
around 6.

So set those GPS's for 11355 Swing Road, Sharonville 45241and come out and
support these guys as they finish their CHL careers.

Football wins

The football team topped off a great evening of homecoming festivities with
a 37-21 win over Mariemont.

Robert Gomez threw 3 touchdown passes to Jonathan Tighe and Drew Perry
rushed for 145 yards. Drew and Max Kadish scored the other TD's. Joe Panos
added a field goal and 4 PAT's.

And don't be fooled by the 21 points - the defense had another strong
outing. Mariemont had 7 points heading into the fourth quarter and that was
on a 10 yard drive (after we had a bad punt snap).

Full post sometime this weekend.

Volleyball team whips Wildcats

The volleyball team defeated Finneytown last night 25-13, 25-9, 25-17.

Why no pictures?  They won so quickly that by the time I got to the gym at halftime of the boys' soccer game, it was already over.  I talked to a couple of the young ladies and asked them to win more slowly, but I'm not sure Coach Plitt will endorse that request.

The team is now 7-3 on the season, 7-0 in the CHL.
